It is an honor for me to serve as the President of JSMU Alumni Canada. As a proud SMCian from the 1992 batch, I understand deeply the values and traditions that bind us. When I first came to Canada, I experienced the same challenges many alumni face, navigating a new country, adapting professionally, and building a support system from the ground up. These experiences inspired me to work alongside our founders in building a strong and welcoming network for all JSMU graduates across Canada.
From the very first meeting at Tim Hortons with our founders, Dr Anwer Rizwan and Dr Tausif Ahmed, I have been actively involved in the growth of this organization. I designed the official JSMUAC logo, served as the first Publication Secretary, led the publication of our inaugural souvenir marking JSMU’s 50th anniversary in 2023, and raised funds for our annual dinner and souvenir. I also designed event banners and contributed on the Project Committee before my election as president. Whether organizing events, hosting gatherings, or lending support behind the scenes, my family and I have always volunteered wholeheartedly to strengthen our alumni network.
In May 2024, on behalf of our founders and directors, I had the honor of representing JSMU Alumni Canada at Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU). I met with Vice Chancellor Dr Amjad Siraj Memon and Registrar Dr Azam Khan to strengthen our connection and share our mission of supporting alumni immigrating to Canada in continuing their medical careers. The visit included speaking at the Green Symposium, touring the campus after 30 years, and visiting the JSMU Alumni office, where our 2023 Gala Dinner photos were proudly displayed. I was honored with a commemorative photo souvenir, symbolizing the growing bond between JSMU and its alumni in Canada.
Later in 2024, JSMU Alumni Canada held its first elections and I was deeply honored to be elected President for the 2025 term. Since taking office, we have expanded membership, hosted networking events, and created advisory groups to guide our members in their careers and strengthen alumni collaboration. Together, we are building a connected and empowered alumni network, one that celebrates our shared heritage and supports every graduate’s success.
