In May 2024, JSMU Alumni Canada (JSMUAC) marked a milestone with an official visit to Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) in Pakistan. Organized by founding members Dr. Tausif Ahmed, Dr. Anwer Rizwan, and Director Dr. Aqeel Khawaja, the visit was represented by Dr. Perveen Bajwa, President-Elect 2025. Dr. Bajwa met with Vice Chancellor Dr. Amjad Siraj Memon and Registrar Dr. Azam Khan to discuss joint efforts to support JSMU graduates immigrating to Canada and helping them continue their medical careers, a concern shared by JSMU leadership. She presented the JSMU Alumni Canada Souvenir, published in celebration of JSMU’s 50th anniversary, to the Vice Chancellor as a token of alumni pride. She was given a campus tour and invited to speak at the Green Symposium: Uniting Youth for Environmental Action, where she encouraged students to stay connected with the alumni network in Canada. She was later honored with the opportunity to distribute prizes to the winners. As a gesture of appreciation, she received a photo souvenir from the Registrar, capturing the presentation of the alumni souvenir, symbolizing the growing affiliation between JSMU and its Canadian alumni. The visit concluded with a stop at the JSMU Alumni Office, where JSMUAC 2023 Annual Gala Dinner was featured through prominently displayed photographs, reflecting the strong presence of JSMU Alumni Canada in JSMU. This visit reaffirmed JSMU Alumni Canada’s commitment to advocacy and mentorship, ensuring that alumni arriving in Canada are not only welcomed but guided as they navigate their medical careers and transition into a new chapter of life.
