In December 2021, two Sindh Medical College graduates, Dr. Tausif Ahmed and Dr. Anwer Rizwan (both from the 1984 batch), along with some other dedicated alumni, founded JSMU Alumni Canada to create a platform for graduates of what is now Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) living in Canada. Their vision was to strengthen alumni connections and provide a space for engagement. With the support of committed volunteers, the organization has grown significantly, with new graduates joining from across the country.
JSMU Alumni Canada has hosted numerous events, bringing alumni and their families closer together. It is the first registered organization representing JSMU alumni in Canada. The Vice Chancellor, Principal, and Registrar of JSMU have all recognized and appreciated its efforts in fostering unity and working towards shared goals.
JSMU Alumni Canada was founded with the vision of creating a strong, inclusive platform for graduates of Sindh Medical College – Jinnah Sindh Medical University (SMC JSMU) to connect, unite, and support one another in Canada. As Jinnah Sindh Medical University marks 50 years since its inception, our alumni community includes graduates from 1982 to the present, all bonded by a deep connection to our alma mater and its enduring legacy.
Our mission is to foster both social and professional connections among SMC JSMU graduates in Canada, building an engaged and supportive alumni network through social events, networking opportunities, and collaborative initiatives with other organizations. We are dedicated to guiding and assisting JSMU graduates who immigrate to Canada, whether they aim to re-enter the healthcare field, explore allied health careers, or transition into entirely new professions. In addition, we are committed to giving back to our university by supporting students, mentoring future graduates, and helping to uphold JSMU’s reputation as one of Pakistan’s leading institutions.
